Online Writing Workshops

At the height of the Covid-19 pandemic, all of Susan’s teaching moved online and she continues to offer workshops and talks via this medium, making them accessible and available to those who may not be able to travel and/or who live outside the UK.

One of her most enjoyable experiences from this period has been delivering a Giving a Voice to Nature workshop for students at the Universidad del Norte in Barranquilla, Colombia.

The workshop title is 'Giving Natuire a Say' and along with a photo of Susan, the poster contains an illustration of clouds, green vegetation and our planet, over which a green paper aeroplane flies.

Mentoring and Manuscript Appraisal

For well over a decade, Susan has mentored writers on a private basis by email, phone and video call. She often works with writers who may be focused on a full-length poetry collection, novel or work of creative non-fiction but equally enjoys guiding those at an early stage of a project, offering prompts and exercises to kick-start the writing process.

Her online teaching journey began at trAce, the online writing school at Nottingham Trent University, in the early years of the millennium. Along with a team of fellow pioneering on-screen writing tutors, she designed and delivered courses, facilitated the workshop space and offered one-to-one tuition.

For a nine-year period, she also offered one-to-one online tuition through the Centre for Lifelong Learning at Cardiff University.

If you’re interested in mentoring and manuscript appraisal by email, phone and/or video call, please contact Susan for further information, fees and availability.
