Journalist
In addition to writing travel pieces, Susan has published articles on a wide range of other subjects, including cricket! Back in her teens and early twenties, her ambition was to combine writing poetry with writing cricket journalism and her feature articles and interviews with leading players appeared in Wisden Cricket Monthly, The Cricketer International, The London Student Newspaper and The Daily Telegraph. Poetry and playwriting ultimately left no time for cricket journalism but Susan remains an obsessive cricket fan to this day.
Short Story Writer
Cricket also provides the backdrop for Susan’s series of short crime stories. Laced with comedy and based in Australia, they feature amateur detective Anna Prentice, a freelance cricket journalist on tour with the England team. The first story in the series, Day Five, was published in Panorama, the inflight magazine of Ansett Australia Airlines, while another was shortlisted for the Scarlet Stiletto Award.
