Seeing Double
Susan has long been a fan of the Great American Songbook and lyricists such as Cole Porter, Ira Gershwin and Irving Berlin so when she met a jazz singer-songwriter who was keen to work with a poet-lyricist and who just happened to share her name, embarking on a collaboration seemed like the obvious thing to do!
Sue Richardson is an acclaimed vocalist and trumpet player who has gigged at major Jazz Festivals throughout the world. The two Sues have already co-written several songs, all of which feature on singer-Sue's latest CD, Fanfare.
The lyrics of original songs such as 'Walk on Gravel', written by the trumpeter's namesake, the poet Susan Richardson, are buoyant and witty - The Times.
They are now working towards a joint jazz-and-poetry show, Seeing Double, and will be looking to tour it throughout the UK.
Previous Collaborations
Susan has collaborated with printmaker Pete Williams on several occasions. Their work, both text and images, has appeared on hoardings around the Millennium Centre in Cardiff and they also enjoyed a joint exhibition of poetry and prints at the Dylan Thomas Centre, Swansea, following a joint residency at Swansea University.
Susan’s poetry has featured in three editions of Her Mark, a diary containing the work of international visual artists and poets, that is produced each year by Woman Made Gallery in Chicago.
