Feeling dozy but happy today after getting back to Cardiff from Newbury in the early hours of this morning and sleeping only a few hours. I was performing at Borders Bookstore last night, as guest poet at the monthly literary evening that’s held there.

Thanks to the energy and vision of the store’s manager, John O’Connor, a stimulating programme of events takes place at the store as well as at local schools and in the wider community. Last night’s audience (a mix of avid readers and practising writers) was really engaged – I experienced my longest ever post-performance question-and-answer session (it only came to an end because the store needed to close at around 10.30pm!) and enjoyed some lovely one-to-one chats with members of the audience too.

Big thanks to John O’Connor for organising the event, and to writer extraordinaire Liz Martinez for getting me invited!
