Over a period of four years, Susan was lucky enough to be one of the resident poets on BBC Radio 4’s Saturday Live, initially presented by Fi Glover (pictured, right) and, more recently, by Richard Coles.
Every six weeks or so, Susan took part in the live programme by writing and performing two new poems, the first in response to the main news story of the week and the second in response to one of the items featured in the programme.
Chelsea Flower Show
Susan’s TV work includes having being commissioned to write poetry for BBC2’s coverage of the Chelsea Flower Show. She performed her new work both in one of the show gardens and on the sofa alongside presenter Alan Titchmarsh in the evening highlights programme.
Susan has also been a guest on Radio 4’s Excess Baggage, presented by John McCarthy, talking about the joys of winter and travelling in icy landscapes. You can listen to the prorgramme, which also featured novelist Margaret Elphinstone, here.
From 2004 until the programme ended some eight years later, Susan was one of the regular guests on the BBC Radio Wales talk show, Something Else. Throughout the live show, Susan and two other guests reviewed the Sunday papers, discussed what had happened in the past week and speculated on the week to come.
