Had a really enjoyable time at Chester Literature Festival on Saturday – I was taking part in Chester Oyez!, the weekend of events celebrating performance poetry and the spoken word. There were two Cinnamon Press showcase sessions – the first featured Gail Ashton (with whom I’ve recently been co-editing a new anthology of narrative poetry, In the Telling) and Judy Kendall, while Bob Beagrie and I shared the afternoon slot.
It was an interesting pairing as both our collections feature icy, north-inspired poems (Bob’s wonderful collection, Yoik, focuses mostly on Finland). I’d really been looking forward to seeing him perform, having viewed a number of YouTube videos of his compelling collaborations with poet Andy Willoughby and assorted musicians.
Hopefully, some of Saturday’s Chester Oyez! action – pieces by all four poets – will be on the Cinnamon Press channel on YouTube shortly too. I’ll post the link when they’ve been uploaded.
That’s a great idea, Rhys!
I’ll look forward to seeing you on YouTube, Susan! That’s given me an idea – I’ll see if I can get hold of a DV-CAM for the Norwegian Church event!
