I’m lucky enough to be involved in the ClimArt project at the moment, offering ecopoetry workshops at primary schools in the Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion areas of Wales. The project is organised and managed by the education arm of the West Wales Eco Centre and also involves Small World Theatre Company.

Last week I was at Ysgol Llanllwchaearn, a school which only has about 30 pupils – but what they lack in numbers, they certainly make up for in enthusiasm. By the end of the week, they’d constructed a shelter from recycled materials including cans, milk containers, and even Wellington boots! One wall of the shelter has been designated as their Poem Wall, where all the wonderfully imaginative ecopoems they produced during my visit will be displayed.

  1. Thanks so much, Michelle, for your enthusiasm.

Calder, Mistlethrush, Crafty Green Poet – yes, it’s been both rewarding and fun so far. The next phase of the project is going to be in the spring next year – not sure if it’ll be all primary schools again or some secondary as well. Whichever, I’m looking forward to it!
