I was in London on Wednesday for a gathering of members of the Climate Change Speaker Network. The aim was to reflect on the success of the network so far, brainstorm ideas for getting more bookings and share our experiences of speaking at schools, Sixth Form Colleges, Rotary and WI groups and so on. About twenty members of the network, ranging from academics and climate scientists to environmental strategists and radical bloggers, came along and it was very inspiring to hear about people’s different approaches.
My own approach, of course, is to raise awareness, and stimulate discussion, of climate change through performances of my poetry. So it was great to meet another poet, Danny Chivers, who’s doing something similar – he’s a really dynamic, passionate performer and we talked about the possibility of doing some joint eco-poetry gigs at some stage in the future.
That’s a lovely think to say, Michelle (though I don’t feel in the slightest bit admirable!)
Thanks for visiting, Mistlethrush!
You certainly get around. Good for you.
I admire you as a poet and person, Susan x
