Had a very convivial evening on Tuesday at the Royal Oak pub in Corsham, a small medieval town on the edge of the Costwolds, performing at Corsham Poetry Society’s Christmas event. It was one of the friendliest evenings at which I’ve been guest poet – co-organisers Linda and Nicola made me feel very welcome. In the open mic part of the evening I enjoyed listening to a mix of the group members’ own work as well as work by published poets which has inspired them. There was also a feast of festive food to be consumed in the break!
I only wish there had been time to look around the historic centre of Corsham – as it was, I had only the briefest glimpse as I walked along the High Street on what was a very cold, frosty winter’s night (just the sort of weather that I love!)
