Partly inspired by Sara Maitland’s A Book of Silence, I’m heading up to Dumfries and Galloway for a week from tomorrow.

I’m looking forward to exploring Wigtown (it’ll be the sixth Book Town I’ve visited!), doing lots of coastal and hill walking and also seeing some of the land art by Andy Goldsworthy and Alec Finlay that’s in the area.

As always seems to be the case before I leave for a trip, I’m spending today trying to tie up every loose end in my life – must finish off every last item of work, respond to every email, make umpteen phonecalls, finish two poems, select all the books I want to read while I’m away (most important, this!), do laundry and then think about getting packed. Have to squeeze in a couple more dog walks too – Hooper’s in super-lively mode and is definitely picking up on the pre-holiday excitement!

I’ll be internet-free while I’m away – back here in just over a week’s time!

  1. Thank you, CGP – looking forward to hearing about your Dumfries and Galloway September trip!

And thank you so much, Hazardgal – what a lovely surprise. I'm honoured to have been chosen.

Thanks to you too, Michelle – I had a wonderful week away.

  2. Fridays were meant for fun and you have just been anointed with the Kreativ Blogger Award. If you are already a recipient, please pass this one to someone you know. My good friend Kelli Haywood passed this award my way. You are my choice because of the way you inspire me and color the online world. Read the rules on my blog… Enjoy the accolades!
