Just back from the Norwegian Church Arts Centre in Cardiff Bay where I was performing poems on the theme of ‘horizons’ to accompany the visual art exhibition of the same name, featuring the work of my photographer friend Rhys Jones, that’s on there at the moment. I performed alongside poet Emily Hinshelwood, whose work, like mine, has a strong environmental focus. Performance artists Jessica Lerner and Eeva-Maria Mutka took part in the day’s events too, offering a fascinating improvisation on the idea of ‘horizons’ as contours of the body, and extensions of the body, with cloth and willow branches.
There was such a creative buzz at the Arts Centre today and I feel very lucky to have been part of it. We all talked about collaborating on a poetry/performance art/photography project in a mountain/coastal location some time in the future too.
‘Plenty of cake’ – another incentive to read your work 🙂
Blog tour sounds great – yes, definitely interested.
I can’t remember which cake – but you can be sure that there is plenty of cake in my novels 😉
Thank you for your support – I’m going on a blog tour in March so if you’d be interested in joining in it’d be lovely to have you – just email for details!
I love the church too – and am intrigued to know that it features in your novel! I will definitely be buying a copy and am looking forward to finding out what kind of cake you chose for your characters 🙂
I love this church – an important scene from my novel The Letters takes place inside, while my characters are eating their lovely cake!
Isn’t it great to be surrounded by creative people, Susan? I admire the fact that you always have something on the go 🙂
