I’ve just received my contributor’s copy of Hunger and Thirst, an anthology of food literature edited by Nancy Cary and published by San Diego City Works Press. It’s a beautifully produced book, containing prose and poetry by the likes of Kim Addonizio, Denise Chavez and Barbara Kingsolver and I feel very pleased to have a poem included in it.
Here’s what the back cover blurb says:
‘The flavor of memory, the sensual and cerebral connection of food and love, and the universal instinct to sing the praises of what we eat and drink are celebrated in this collection. There are struggles here too. Starvation. Illness. Metaphorical hungers and thirsts. Stay awhile at the table. Cook up one of the recipes…’
Thanks for liking the cover, Michelle. I agree that book covers are really important – certain books just beg to be picked up and enjoyed even before any reading is done!
Susan, I really like the cover. For some reason, book covers are important to me.
Thanks, Mistlethrush – and yes, you should definitely dare to buy it 🙂
Sounds like an interesting book for finding examples of taste – dare I buy another book…..
Well done for being in it Mrs International Poet-Star
Thanks, Sue and Michelle! I’m really enjoying dipping into the anthology – have already made a long list of writers I’m discovering for the first time and want to read more of!
Yeeay! Congratulations, Susan. And another book to order x
This looks fascinating. It’s wonderful that you have something in there, too, and to be among such illustrious company!
